Martial Artists of all levels will benefit from tangible training metrics

"I wish I could have used this technology during my time as an elite athlete, especially to monitor my training load in the lead up to competition and tapering."

— Damon Sansum

It has been 3months since joining the Kick.AI team and what an amazing experience it has been! Not only have I been blown away by Kick.AI’s capabilities but the speed in which the company is growing is mind blowing. Can’t wait for you to see what we have on the roadmap!

As a martial artist training for over 20years at the top level in several disciplines, I have always wondered how technology could be incorporated into sessions to track improvement. I felt like there should be something equivalent to the Fitbit specifically designed for all martial artists. When Kick.AI contacted me I couldn’t believe it, the technology actually existed.

Cracking down the basics

So, what exactly does the technology do and who is it useful for?

The simple answer to this question is everyone who has ever thrown a kick. I have seen the technology used by 6year old yellow belts and equally World and European Kickboxing and Taekwondo champions. From excited children’s faces testing their kicking speed to elite athletes monitoring their training volume and output, all through real-time data displayed on the Kick.AI app.

Through the different in app features you can highlight so many key areas such as reaction time, session intensity, speed and the total amount of kicks you deliver in a round or a complete session. I wish I could have used this technology during my time as an elite athlete, especially to monitor my training load in the lead up to competition and tapering. To get evidence that you are getting fitter and faster does wonders for your confidence and mentality, this is the key factor for success at any level.

Metrics to back up coaching decisions

Since retiring from competition, I have been coaching a great deal around the world. Is Kick.AI beneficial to use as a coach? Definitely! When correcting student’s technique as an instructor the feedback you give is only based on your opinion. When using Kick.AI you can analyse data as you go along, showing them tangible evidence of progress.

Are my students getting faster? Are they able to maintain speed and intensity during their training rounds? Are they faster than their team mates?

Join the Kick.AI movement today to answer these questions and stay tuned for in depth training tutorials with Kick.ai trackers.
